The ERA-EDTA Registry is located at the Department of Medical Informatics of the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The projects of the ERA-EDTA Registry aim to investigate (1) international differences in the (trends in) incidence and outcomes of kidney replacement therapy – i.e. dialysis and kidney transplantation – in Europe and (2) aetiological factors affecting outcome in patients on kidney replacement therapy.
Each year, more than 30 national and regional renal registries throughout Europe send individual patient data and about 19 renal registries send aggregated data on kidney replacement therapy to the Registry office of the European Renal Association –European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) (www.era-edta-reg.org).
Results of analyses on the incidence and prevalence of and survival on kidney replacement therapy are being published in an ERA-EDTA Registry annual report. In addition, several studies are performed based on Registry data and there are two PhD students working on research projects – one of which is the EDITH project – as part of the ERA-EDTA Registry.
